Iggy Pop BBC Radio Show - Summer Songs

The godfather of punk, Iggy Pop returns to 6 Music with even more eclectic and exciting music choices, delving into his personal record collection to give listeners an exclusive insight into the mind of one of the most influential rock stars of the last 40 years.
His theme this week is Summer Songs in which Iggy confesses to a secret love for a band that perfectly embodies the spirit of summer, The Beach Boys. He also reveals his fondness for those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer due to being part reptile. The show features artists ranging from Bill Callahan to Brian Hyland and all the way over to Bananarama.
I really just had to talk about this, Iggy's radio show on BBC Radio, lord, it sounds like heaven.
Iggy only started this earlier this year, but as soon as I heard about it, it was the only thing that I looked forward to on a Monday morning, because that's when it was released where I live.
Every week there's a different theme of music, past theme's have been Love and Sex, Revelations, Sax in the City, and a whole other bunch of diverse music and culture.
Iggy's music taste is perfect, he features all the right music in his show, always playing The Kinks, sometimes including his own band The Stooges, and then showing a variety of musical geniuses traversing from Janis Joplin, Alice Cooper, James Brown and The Velvet Underground.

I could go on forever about how amazing I think Iggy Pop is, but that's not what i'm talking about now, i'm talking about his truly widespread music taste, he seems to know all the right music, and seems to enjoy every bit of it.
You can tell with every song he plays that he's sitting in the studio enjoying it just as much as the listener, by the tone in his voice and the comments he makes, you feel part of the music.
This week he played another awesome mix of songs, that really did fit in with the summer theme, although it's still winter in Australia, you can tell there still can be some summer spirit left. Some of the songs Iggy chose this week were by Bill Callahan (otherwise known as Smog), he also mentioned his love for the The Beach Boys, and dipped into the songs done by The Doors.
This weeks theme and song choices really won me over, I was dancing around and couldn't stop listening.

I'm not sure how much longer the show will be on for so you better get onto it! Either listening to it live on the BBC Radio channel or going to Iggy's radio program list here.
Do it!

(P.S. Just had to add photos of Iggy during the blog post, he is my god ❤)
